In an attempt to bolster ‘grassroots donations’, President’s Obama has created a new promotion. For only $3 (originally $5, but apparently he had to lower the price) you can be entered for a chance to win a dinner with the President. Look, it’s a political donation for people who are bad at math!

Heck, he even has a set of Official Rules just like on a bag of Doritos. Once he’s done raffling off a fancy supper like he’s some kind of teen pop star I’m sure he will make a big deal about how thousands of grassroots contributors donated to his campaign.

The most awesome thing? By law you don’t have to make a purchase to win! That means there is a form where you can sign up for dinner with Barack Obama for FREE!

Dr. Pepper Recipe – FOUND

While poking around in an Oklahoma Antique store, a man named Bill Waters found a journal that may contain the Original Dr. Pepper recipe from 1885.

The writing on the journal is hard to decipher, so Mr. Waters hasn’t tried the recipe, but the book is from the original Waco TX drugstore that ‘invented’ Dr. Pepper. Dr. Pepper execs have confirmed that the recipe in the book is not anything like what they currently use – of course that recipe is TOP SECRET.

The book is going to be sold on Ebay. I home someone shares the recipe, it would be amazing to make this and see how it compares with today’s soft drink.

Windsor High School Marching Band donations

As you’ve probably heard, the Windsor High School Marching Band has be invited to play at President Obama’s inauguration. They have been working hard to raise money for this trip, but according to Fox News last night are still short some $50,000.

Actor Ricardo Montalban, known for his roles as Mr. Roarke of Fantasy Island and Khan Noonien Singh in Star Trek: The Wrath of Khan has died in his Los Angeles home. He was 88 years old.

Podiobooks – Potty-o-books

I’m currently listening to one of my favorite podcasts. I won’t mention it, or link to it, since this isn’t a very nice post, but I think this needs to be said. Hopefully no one will be offended.

It appears that some authors are serializing their writing using the podcast format. They have adopted the term Podiobook, at least as far back as April 2005.

Unfortunately, it doesn’t appear that anyone said this term out loud. When being discussed the term sounds much more like Potty-o-books than podiobooks, of course, carrying a whole different connotation than intended.

I’m writing this just as a heads up to all you authors out there. If you want this medium to be accepted universally, you might think of changing what you call it. The average American is going to think twice about getting involved with something that sounds like potty.

Rockies Computers Fold Like a Lawn Chair

Our local Colorado Baseball team, the Colorado Rockies, had a bit of a SNAFU this morning with sales of their World Series tickets.

The decision was made by the team to only make the tickets available online. Unfortunately, after 8.5 Million hits, and some serious webserver meltdown, ticket sales were suspended.

The worst part, the Rockies are getting the heat for this when I’m sure they paid a princely sum of money to Paciolan to provide the online ticket sales.
