Also, consider donating to his legal fund. The Canadians are considering deporting him back to Pakistan where he could likely be excuted for his Apostacy and Blasphemy.

Islam Muslim PopeUnless you’ve been under a rock for the last week or so you have heard about the Pope’s offensive remarks about Islam. Recently in speech the Pope
referred to criticism of the Prophet Muhammad by 14th century Byzantine Emperor Manuel II Palaeologus, who said everything the prophet brought was evil “such as his command to spread by the sword the faith he preached.”
Muslim groups had this response to the Pope’s statement, in which he was only quoting a historical document not directly denouncing Islam himself:
Al-Qaeda militants in Iraq vowed war on “worshippers of the cross” and protesters burned a papal effigy…
Muslim fundamentalists, and western organizations like the New York Times, who are appearantly sympathetic to radical Muslims, have been begging Pope Benedict for a retraction of his statement. Sunday, the Pope addressed the matter but did not retract his statements. In fact, he reiterated his point that we should all reject religiously motivated violence.
To me, this whole issue is insane and ironic for the following reasons.
- Islam and Christianity are, and always have been, incompatible. Muslims continually point at the Christians (and Jews) as being evil, but when a Christian leader points out the same opinions about Islam worldwide riots erupt.
- The New York Times is defending Islam. Barely five years ago the city this newspaper represents was attacked by militian Muslims, but now the paper is leaping to their defense? How crazy is that?
- Islam is by it’s very nature violent. The Koran actively encourages it’s followers to spread the religion by the sword. This is not a myth, this is not a misinterpretation, this is a fact and it has been a method of operation for Muslims for thousands of years. There are many Muslims that don’t take this literally, but at it’s heart Islam is rooted in violence. Conversely, the Christian gospels constantly renounce violence. Christ made it clear that he did not advocate violent action in any way. Not that many wars haven’t been fought in the name of the Chrisitan God, but many times those wars were initiated by corrupt church officials not following the words of Christ.
- Declaring War on “worshippers of the cross” is neither new or peaceful. How are these people convincing anyone they are peaceful when every time they get offended they start killing people? How are all these liberal groups defending a religion that is committing violent crimes every time someone makes a statement they don’t like?
The only thing I understand less than the actions of Muslims on a worldwide scale is the readiness of social and political groups everywhere to constantly defend them. While I believe that, at least here in the US, Muslims have (and should continue to have) the right to peacefully worship in any way they wish, I also believe that there is a significant segment of Muslims worldwide that take the text of their religion to heart. These people are violent and dangerous because of Islam. The sooner we recognize and admit this the better off we will be.

Alice in Wonderland Paris HiltonThis is one of the funnier practical jokes I’ve heard about in a while. Sir Richard Branson took advantage of poor Paris Hilton.
The theme of the party was the Mad Hatter, and Paris decided to come dressed as Alice in Wonderland and she notified everyone in advance.
Apprised of this information, Sir Richard ordered all the waitresses at the event, some 60 in total to dress in the same costume, thereby placing Paris in the awkward situation of not being the center of attention.
To make matters worse, Sir Richard at one stage pretended to act as if the hotel heiress were a waitress and asked her to go fetch him a drink.

Mitch Covad punter UNC University of Northern ColoradoAs if Greeley didn’t have enough problems right now, with the recent gang violence, now we’ve got university football players stabbing each other for starting spots. UNC second stringer, Mitch Cozad stabbed the starting punter in the leg.
Funny thing to me here is what was this kid thinking? What could possibly be a good outcome from this? Did Mitch think he would be able to look his victim in the eye when he was standing on the sidelines in crutches. Just proves that everyone that goes to college isn’t smart.

America Broadcast right UN treatyI remember when America was free, and the rest of the world was oppressed. I remember when Russia was the Evil Empire. Nowdays it seems we move closer and closer to becoming what we fear.
The latest evidence of this is the (US Sponsored) UN Treaty that would create a ‘Broadcast Right’. The idea is that there would be a separate ‘right’ beyond copyrights belonging to broadcasters.
The proposed law is being called “deadly to podcasters”, as it would forbid them from quoting or re-using each others’ work and would allow podcast-hosting companies to tell people how podcasts can be used. Imagine creating content only to have your host tell you what you could and could not do with it. Even worse, broadcasters would have to pay their lawyer once to make sure they had fair copyright use, and then again to make sure they had fair broadcast use.
I won’t go into details on the technicalities and impact of the treaty. I would rather look at the bigger picture. A picture of a country that used to stand for Life, Liberty and the pursuit of happiness who is now continually miring herself down with a flood of restrictive laws that limit people’s ability to express ideas and share concepts. As the, allegedly, leader of the free world you would think we would embrace the liberty provided by modern technology, instead we choose to muzzle that creativity to be sure the big corporations can make a buck.
I’m all for capitalism, free markets, and making money, but there are freedoms that deserve protecting and passing laws (or signing treaties) that give broadcasters rights over content they didn’t even create just isn’t right.

cpanel fantastico hostgator wordpressSo, I have a web host, Hostgator, that I run this site on. It’s got a great program named cpanel that manages installation of things like wordpress - which I’m using here.
I’m a couple minor revisions behind, and I’d like to keep up, but the fantastico installer tells me to
Upgrade only if
- no files, languages, themes have been modified
- you haven’t added mods to this installation of WordPress
What is this all about? I can’t automatically upgrade if I’ve created a theme or added a mod? Who runs a blog without a theme or a blog. How useless! Grrrr.

Akron Angel Light Pyrotechnics National Radial Engine ExhibitionWhat is with people and their websites? Do most people not realize we don’t all know who you are or where you are from? Does it not cross to the average web designer’s mind that the Internet is a GLOBAL thing and visitors only know where you are if you tell them?
Case in point, I have some friends, Larry and Ginger Darrington who run a company named Angel Light Pyrotechnics. They do fireworks displays and other pyrotechnic stuff (hence the name).
We saw Larry recently, and he told us about an upcoming air show with a WWII re-enactment that he was shooting for. Explosions, vintage airplanes, sounds like a good time to me. Well, this show is tomorrow, so we decided to go. I couldn’t remember where it was, so I did some searching. Of course, the first place I went was the Angel Light site. They had nice pictures, but not dates/times/locations/directions. Next I started looking for the air show. Hunted all over, finally found a link to the air show from a UK based site (none of the US sites I could find listed it). Finally found the National Radial Engine Exhibition site. Nice picture of a parachuter, and even a admonition to “Come spend the day…”, but no directions, no schedule, no maps, nothing. Even checked the Washington County website, which was (incorrectly) listed in the National Radial Engine Exhibition site, no significant information there either.
Thing is, this show is in Akron Colorado an eastern Colorado farming community of 1700 people. You would think an event like this would be a big deal for the local economy. You would think it would be worthwhile to publicize it a LITTLE.
Sometimes I just don’t get the logic of some of these people

calories weight lossIn my never ending quest to get in better shape, I’ve started a little calorie counting. Only been going on for a couple days, so we will see how it goes.
Anyway, went out and looked for a good food log site today and found dropafew.com. Drop a Few is an open source project for tracking weight loss and calories. Not bad for a free app, doesn’t look like there is much activity out there, so I hope it isn’t abandoned, but I’m going to try it for a while.
