As I write this, this week’s episode of Chuck is winding down to the music of Band of Horses.
If you TIVO’d Chuck, notice the haunting strains of “No One’s Gonna Love You” during the final scene…

It’s not like the state of TV isn’t dismal enough with the writer’s strike and the resulting possible end of Battlestar Galactica, stopping of the Office, possible delay of 24 and a shortened season for Heroes.
To top it all off, our friends at NBC have nothing better to do than run a 30 second preview of one of my new favorite shows, Chuck, that gives away most of tomorrow’s episode. Not only do they have major episode spoilers, but they air them during tonight’s NFL game, so I can’t really ignore them. If I didn’t like the show so much I would NOT watch it because of the commercial…

Band of Horses is quickly becoming one of my new favorites.
Formed in Seattle in 2004, Band of Horses has a great indie rock sound. Their latest single, Is there a Ghost is an ethereal track that builds from an acoustic start to a power pop finish. The music just feels dark and deep – two things that anyone who reads my music picks knows that I like.
I would definitely recommend getting their latest album, Cease to Begin, definitely worth it.
Appearantly there has been some controversy in the last few years about a Menorah being allowed in Christmas decorations. To solve this ‘complicated’ problem, the city of Fort Collins has created a Holiday Display Task Force. The Task Force has announced that the city can’t put up any decorations that might have religious meaning, including Red Bows, Stars and Christmas Trees.
Seems like many are up in arms about this nonsense. One of these is Sherriff Alderden who has thrown down the gauntlet!
Most of the members of the Larimer County Sheriff’s Office are Christians and celebrate Christmas. We pray for the continued safety of our brothers and sisters in blue, and recognize that the laws we are sworn to uphold have their very foundation in the laws laid down by God through Moses. Our criminal codes are based on Judaic Christian doctrine. To deny that by restricting symbols of Christian faith on public property is beyond the pale. In recognition and celebration of Christmas, members of the LCSO will be displaying a Christmas tree – not a holiday tree – on our front lawn at 2501 Midpoint Drive. We will be decorating the tree on December 1 at 10:00 a.m. and invite members of the public who share our faith or object to government intrusion into our religious freedoms to join us.
Good for him, finally time we had someone stand up to these Scrooges!
